Trail
Start
Km 0.00 – The route starts from Piazza Giovanni Paolo I (commonly known as Piazza Duomo). Leaving the Cathedral behind, head towards the fountain and turn right onto Via Brevia, which climbs steeply. After about 150 meters, you will reach the intersection with Via San Rocco and Via Cavertino. Continue straight ahead, climbing steadily.
Km 0.450 – Leave the paved road and take Via Crucis on the left. After a few steps, keep to the right and take the steps. Continuing straight ahead, you will soon reach the ruins of an ancient palace known locally as i Palasi or Caregon del Diol (the Devil’s throne). The main route continues uphill along the Via Crucis, consisting of a dirt road alternating with steps and marked by the chapels of the various stations, which winds its way up the slopes of Colle di San Paolo, offering beautiful views of the village of Ceneda, the hills of Carpesica and Formeniga, and the Treviso Pre-Alps.
Porta di San Zuane
Km 0.900 – You will come to a group of abandoned houses. Turn right and then immediately left to take the last steps to the top of the hill. When you reach a stone arch (the ancient Porta di San Zuane – St John’s), without going through it, take the cypress-lined walkway on the right, which leads to the small church of San Paolo al Monte, located at the top of the hill in a secluded and picturesque spot (not open to visitors).
Km 1.100 – After admiring the view, which on clear days stretches from the Pre-Alps to the sea, retrace your steps back to Porta di San Zuane, go through it and descend to the right onto path 1042a, which is initially quite steep and uneven but becomes easier further on. Continue downhill, ignoring all the junctions (following the signs for trail V10) until you reach the fence at Case Segat.
End of route
Km 1.500 – Continue on the right, tackling a short stretch that can be quite muddy in rainy weather, until you reach a crossroads where you keep left and continue climbing. A little further on, you will see a gate and then the junction for the cross on Monte Altare. Here, leave the V10 and continue on a slight slope along the fence of Case Segat. Ignore the two paths that descend to the left and continue along the path known as the “Sentiero di Santa Rita”. Cross a small stream that only flows when it rains (the Cervada) and you will reach the shrine dedicated to the saint. Continue downhill to reach the old road that leads from Ceneda to San Lorenzo.
Km 2.800 – Turn sharply left and descend until you reach Case Posoccon. Leaving the houses on your right, continue first on flat ground and then slightly uphill until you reach a fork in the road where you will find the signs for the Naturalmente Vittorio Veneto trails.
3.300 km – Continuing uphill to the right on the dirt road, you will reach an antenna and shortly afterwards begin to descend, first on a concrete road and then again on a dirt road until you reach a crossroads.
4.000 km – At the crossroads, keep right and go up the dirt road until you reach the small temple dedicated to St. Roch (beautiful view of the Cathedral of Ceneda). Continue downhill until you reach Via San Fris, where you will see a shrine dedicated to San Rocco.
Km 4.300 – Keep left, continuing first on a slight incline and then beginning to descend. Pass the junction with Via Antonio Correr and continue along Via Francesco Rossi, enclosed by the characteristic Cenedese stone walls just below Villa Papadopoli, until you reach the starting point in Piazza Giovanni Paolo I.
